RENEWABLE GREEN ENERGY

Steel is crucial to the transition to a more sustainable economic model, but, as a traditionally car- bon-intensive industry, the race is on to lower the environmental impacts of this vital material. By committing to make the steel supply chain carbon neutral, We can develop wind energy that's even greener than it is now. The steel sector is currently responsible for 7 to 8 percent of carbon emissions each year. This figure is projected to rise in line with increasing demand.

At Grace, we have installed windmills to generate power using wind and lower the number of fossil fuels used as well as the CO2 generation. Eliminating carbon emissions and transitioning to net zero presents several opportunities. Taking action now enables us to prepare for the inevitble changes across supply chains and to remain economically competitive in a low-carbon world.

RECYCLING

Steel is vital to modern, sustainable society. The same steel that enables manufacturers to make lighter, safer structures is also continuously recyclable. Due to its inherent magnetism, steel is very easy to separate and recycle, making steel the most recycled material in the world. Melting steel scrap at the end of its useful life allows us to create new steels, making adjustments to the chemistry and shape of the new product.

To keep the environment safe we recycle the used steel to produce more refined steel. Recycling steel replaces the need to produce virgin steel. In turn, this preserves precious natural resources like coal and fossil fuels used in steel production. It's essential to consider resources like coal and fossil fuels, as its combustion is a top contributor to climate change.
